Your Guide

John Dagan has operated Darwin Barra Fishing tours since 1989. He is an accredited NT Fishing Tour Operator, licensed fishing tour operator and licensed Kakadu National Park Tour Operator. There are few waters that he has not fished around Darwin and he has also fished extensively in Queensland, the Gulf country and the Kimberly's.

Early experience on cattle stations as a stockman has given John extensive bush skills and understanding of the country and it's wildlife. He has explored more of the country than many of us will ever see and offers clients the opportunity to not only catch great fish but to do it in spectacular locations or even in distant remote fishing camps that can only be experienced through an accredited guide.

John owns operates and maintains only the best in vehicles, boats equipment used in supplying quality fishing charters to his customers.  He has a personal policy of sustainable fishing that does not overwork any single fishing spot so each spot will still be holding fish ready to produce on the next visit.  To do this he has an extensive itinerary of spots in each area he fishes. History proves that customers only benefit from this approach.

Things Stay With You

There are sights that happen every day somewhere in the Territory that will stay with you forever. Sharks in rivers hundreds of kilometres from the sea, crocodiles stalking wading birds, wading birds stalking fish, flying foxes squabbling in their daytime roosts, feral pigs rooting around, dingoes, the odd remaining wild buffalo. At sea turtles pop up at the back of your boat, schools of tuna and other pelagic's churn the surface of the sea. All of this as well as the beauty of the country, it's history and it's people. You will come for the fishing but you will remember it all and wonder why you didn’t do it years ago.
