Run-Off Fishing Tours

What to

Expect

Barramundi gather in the creeks and rivers in the Northern Territory’s floodplains between late February to May to feed on the fish leaving the wetlands. Against epic vistas like the Arnhem Land escarpment and South Alligator river plains to the steep timbered banks of the Daly River, you’ll be able to catch fish ranging from juveniles to trophy metre plus fish of a lifetime!

Early Season Run-Off

Late Feb – Early march
We focus our efforts on the big tidal rivers and coastal creeks, chasing barra that are feeding aggressively to put on condition after their wet season spawn.

Late Season Run-Off

April – May
As the water levels fall, the barra push up the big tidal rivers to the run in creeks and the flood plains. The barra gorge themselves on the plentiful baitfish being forced into the rivers by the receding water levels on the flood plains.

Day Trips

Run-off day trips out of Darwin are a great option for anyone looking to catch a Barra. February to May is the peak Barra season and can produce some of the hottest fishing of the year. We focus on the large tidal rivers near Darwin as the end of the wet season triggers a feeding frenzy in the Barramundi. The whole food chain erupts with the inflow of nutrients and baitfish from the wet season floods.

Extended Trips

Run-off Extended trips maximise your chance of catching trophy Barramundi. Late February to May is the peak Barra fishing season and with several days to fish we can travel out to more remote rivers and stay at lodgings there. This cuts down on travel time for consecutive days and increases your time on the river. The more days on the river the more you can hone your skills and the more fish you will catch as a result.
